The value of reclaimed materials

The CADORIN ANTICO collection is created by reclaiming timber from old beams and wooden elements recovered from disused buildings, carefully selected and processed to be used once again.

Reclamation extends the useful life of the raw material and, in proportion to the amount of wood reused, can help reduce the need for newly sourced timber. The carbon absorbed by the tree during its growth remains stored in the wood throughout its service life. Reusing the wood therefore extends the time the carbon remains stored within the product and postpones its end-of-life management.

Reclaimed antique wood is used for the top wear layer of the three-layer plank. The second and third layers are made of fir and larch sourced from Austrian forests located between 150 and 300 km from Cadorin’s production facility. The layers are bonded using water-based PVAc—polyvinyl acetate—adhesives specifically designed for woodworking applications.

Antique wood planks are mainly finished with BIOFA oils and waxes. These finishes protect the surface of the wood, enhance its natural appearance, and make cleaning and maintenance easier.

THE ANTIQUE CADORIN PLANKS are manufactured according to defined quality criteria, documented through:

• the selection and verification of the origin of the reclaimed wood;
• an individual assessment of the suitability of each piece;
• a significant investment of resources in restoring the wooden elements;
• protective finishes based on oils and waxes or, alternatively, water-based coatings.
