How often do university students have the opportunity to step into the heart of a manufacturing company and explore the real possibility of seeing their ideas come to life?

A competition promoted by CADORIN and developed by POLI.design Milan, involving students from the Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design Engineering and Innovation, and Yacht Design programs at IUAV University of Venice, University of Genoa – La Spezia University Campus, RUFA Rome, University of Chieti-Pescara, and POLI.design Milan.

Step into the heart of a manufacturing company and explore the real possibility of seeing your ideas come to life.

The initiative was born out of the desire to establish a meaningful dialogue between academia and the world of production, with the aim of engaging students in the development of their ideas and providing them with direct experience of materials, production specialists, decorative techniques, and the practical processes that transform an idea into reality.

The challenge is to design a decorative pattern for wood flooring and wall coverings, to be applied to wood using laser engraving technology, conceived for applications in interior design, architecture, and a wide range of residential and contract environments.

IDEA, DESIGN, PRODUCTION: three words that describe a journey from discovering the material to creatively reinterpreting it, culminating in its transformation into reality.

The journey begins with students visiting the company, an experience of discovery, exchange, and inspiration. An opportunity to step into the world of Cadorin, gain firsthand insight into its production processes, explore the potential of wood, and meet the people who transform it into premium surfaces every day.

This experience sparks new ideas that, through research and design, evolve into original and innovative proposals.

The three winning projects will be developed and produced by Cadorin and showcased at the Salone del Mobile 2027, bringing the creativity of young designers to the international stage.
