“Sedialibro” Bookchair

This enormous wooden book, as tall as a young girl or boy opens, closes, and conceals an unexpected reading nook with a comfy little armchair inside that invites you to come in, sit down, relax, and read a book.

The first prototype designed by Architect Barbara Fornasir was commissioned by Vittorio Sgarbi, aptly named “SITTING IS READING” by the famous critic himself, and even bears his signature. SEDIALIBRO will be produced in a limited, numbered edition by Cadorin Group, and can be personalized in further detail on request.

THE MAKING OF THE SEDIALIBRO / BOOKCHAIR

Previously on display at Palazzo Isimbardi in Milan on the occasion of the Expo Belle Arti Project promoted by the Lombardia Region and curated by Art Critic Vittorio Sgarbi and Architect Barbara Fornasir, SEDIALIBRO has amazed one and all with its original concept and generous size.

Handcraftsmanship makes minimal use of mechanical mechanisms, and for this reason the opening out of the armchair inside the book, its backrest and lectern takes place through slides, joints and automatisms all in solid wood. This SEDIA LIBRO was made principally by hand by Delfino Cadorin. The book’s cover and other components are in solid European Walnut wood with one of our most exclusive finishes, Bark color, while its structure and pages are in Austrian Fir in a natural finish.
For the supply of various components and the completion of the project, Cadorin availed of the services of Centro Studi e Restauro in Gorizia, Gobbo Salotti in Cittadella (PD), Miko in Savogna (GO), T.P.S. in San Giovanni al Natisone (UD), and Viabizzuno in Bentivoglio (BO). What’s more: all the lettering on the cover and spine were hand painted by renowned art master Flavio Polloniato of Marostica. The final result is such a truly original piece that SEDIA LIBRO has become a part of Cadorin production in only a limited, numbered edition. Each SEDIA LIBRO has been given its own Roman number and can be even further personalized by the client as desired.
